Outreach-Week 4-Drakensberg!

Our team's travelling portion of outreach got off to a rocky start! We left JBay a day later, due to the Koombie not being ready. So we left Tuesday morning at 2am...traveled 3.5 hours, stopped in Grahamstown for petrol, and couldn't get up the hills to get out of town! So we stopped & slept until we could get a mechanic to look at what was wrong. It took until 3pm to get going again, but the Koombie was running 120% better and we were more than capable of getting up the hills!!! After about 16 hours driving, we arrived in the Drakensberg mountains, a little village called Winterton to stay at the YWAM base-it was 5:30 AM Wednesday morning...what a long drive!
We really enjoyed the YWAM Drakensberg base-the food, the accomodations and most importantly, the people...Stefaan Hugo was teaching that week on the Holy Spirit so we joined in 2 evenings for Holy Spirit parties...something we all enjoyed from our lecture phase as well.
We helped out at Isibane Community Centre-painting a house and a room for them, preparing a 40 min. program Friday morning for the Matthew 25 feeding scheme (they enjoy a short service, help in the garden or in general maintenance of the Centre, are fed a meal, and then sent home with staple foods), we also helped with some assessments of learning disabilities in the primary school.
Saturday evening we were treated to an amazing braai at Tracy's house with her family & friends-it was a real treat!!! There was skipping, rugby, a beautiful sunset over the Drakensberg mountains, and just a great time to spend as a team.
Sunday we went to Tracy's church, Springfield, and performed a dance, and a skit, as there was no electricity! Then we went to the creche in the community to help with the Sunday School program in the afternoon-there were over 100 kids from the community-we performed many of our dances/skits for them, and then they had a Bible lesson and a small meal before they went home.
6am Monday morning-heading to Mafikeng, North-West Province, South Africa-about 20 kms from Botswana!!
